In a new achievement reflecting the distinction of students at the Department of Communications and Computer Engineering, Higher Institute of Engineering in El-Shorouk City, the department proudly congratulates the graduation project team behind “AI-Driven Intelligent Reflecting Surface for 6G Networks” on securing ninth place at IC-ESI 2026, in a highly competitive field of more than 250 university and school teams from across Egypt in Alexandria.

The project presents an advanced integration of artificial intelligence, communications engineering, and future-network technologies. It introduces an intelligent framework for dynamically controlling RIS/IRS surfaces, combining deep reinforcement learning with mathematical optimization to configure signal phase shifts, improve wireless propagation, and mitigate path loss, signal blockage, and limited coverage in mmWave and THz bands.

The proposed solution is designed to enhance spectral efficiency, energy performance, adaptability, and scalability in future communications networks, supporting applications in 6G, smart cities and IoT, high-capacity wireless links, and energy-efficient network infrastructure.

Team members are Abdallah Usama Fathy Abdelmoaty, Salma Tarek Elsayed Ibrahim, Sama Tarek El-Sayed Aref, Ahmed Ayman Abdallah Abo Elsood, Mohamed Hesham Saber Abdallah, Samah Walid Saad Ali, Ahmed ElSayed Ahmed Mohamed, and Abdallah Mohamed Elmahdy Ghania. The project was supervised by Dr. Waleed Abd-Elshafi Ali El-Shazly, with support from Eng. Mena-Allah Nabil.

The department proudly celebrates this achievement, which brings together artificial intelligence, communications engineering, and the ambition of future networks, and wishes the team continued success.
