The origin of the department
The Department of Civil Engineering was established by Ministerial Decree No. 1437 on September 10, 2000. The first graduating class, consisting of 22 students, graduated in the 2003/2004 academic year. By the 2021/2022 academic year, the total number of graduates from the department reached 7,562, accounting for 38% of the total graduates from the High Institute of Engineering since its inception. For the 2022/2023 academic year, the number of enrolled students in the program is 1,114, covering all four academic years.

The Department of Civil Engineering is one of the latest departments established at the High Institute of Engineering in El-Shorouk. It is one of the largest departments in the institute in terms of student numbers. The department's students account for 35% of the total student body at the institute. It is also significant for the institute's academic strength, with 32 faculty members and 35 teaching assistants, including lecturers and demonstrators. The department is equipped with seven advanced technical and laboratory facilities. Faculty members from government universities (such as Ain Shams University, Cairo University, Helwan University, Zagazig University, and Tanta University) and research centers are appointed for graduation projects, allowing students to experience various teaching methodologies from these prestigious institutions. Graduates of the program are fully prepared to engage with both the local and regional job markets.

The Civil Engineering program seeks for educational and research excellence locally and regionally, and to serve the community by developing curricula to keep pace with contemporary scientific advancements and achieve sustainability.
Preparing distinguished graduates, scientifically and professionally, to keep pace with the requirements of the evolving labor market, and also to have the ability to compete and effectively serve the community, while committing to developing the educational, administrative, research and technological environment and providing the appropriate environment to achieve excellence and competitive leadership.
The first main objective: upgrading the quality of the educational process. The second main objective: the professional development of program graduates according to the equirement of the labor market. The third main objective: developing self-skills and the skill of continuing education The fourth main objective: work on continuous improvement of various aspects of the educational process.
